Main card preview : Deliverance October 3rd

Langka Muay Thai’s Deliverance takes place this Saturday, October 3, with a busy card featuring a mixture of C-class contests, A-class action and a WBC Muay Thai British title fight.

There are plenty of interesting matchups across the card, with several young fighters continuing to build experience and establish themselves within the Irish Muay Thai scene. With a great line up of N-class right up to A class, this show always delivers, lets look at the main card for Saturday.

One of the C-class contests that stands out is Aaron Knott vs Louis Murphy.

Knott continues to build experience as he looks to establish himself among the next generation of Irish fighters. Opposite him is Louis Murphy of Team Torres Muay Thai, who brings additional experience to the matchup as a WMO European 57kg Pro-Am Champion.

Both fighters are at an interesting stage of their development, making this one worth watching closely.

Adrian McLaughlin vs Sean Currie is another C-class contest on the card.

Both fighters will be looking to impose themselves from the opening bell, and under C-class rules this has the ingredients of an entertaining contest for spectators.

Caleb Long vs Josh Spratt

Caleb Long returns to action against Josh Spratt in another matchup that catches the eye.

Long, who has previously featured on our Prospect Watch, fights out of Jai sua Muay Thai and has already gained experience on the international stage. He has also competed for the Silver Series Pro-Am title, giving him experience beyond the standard amateur circuit.

Standing opposite him is Josh Spratt of BCF Gym, another young fighter who has impressed us with his performances. Spratt has previously shared the ring with Aaron Knott and also has a win over Josh Irwin, a tough and technically skilled opponent.

With both fighters having already faced quality opposition, this should be a useful test of where they currently stand.

Gerard Arnold of Langka Muay Thai takes on Ryan Nolan, who makes his C-class debut.

There is an additional storyline attached to this one. Arnold previously defeated Ryan's brother, Aaron Nolan, at the Legends Return show. While it is impossible to know how much bearing that result will have on Saturday's contest, it certainly adds an interesting element to the matchup.

Arnold also trains alongside some of the strongest fighters at Langka, including Liam McDonnell, Gareth Smiley and Gary Miller, giving him the benefit of training in a very experienced environment.

For Nolan, his C-class debut comes against a fighter who already has a win over his brother. It should make for an interesting contest.

At 75kg, Peter Thompson vs Cillian Duffy has all the ingredients of a hard-fought contest.

With the additional weight behind both strong fighters, this could develop into a particularly physical matchup. It is certainly one to keep an eye on when the two meet.

Aodhíon Douglas faces Fiachra Donnellan in another C-class matchup.

Douglas has been active recently and has continued to improve with each outing. There is less familiarity with Donnellan from our perspective, which makes this one particularly interesting to assess on the night.

Kori Walsh vs Ewan Dodds brings together two fighters capable of producing fast, technical exchanges.

Both will be looking to establish their range and dictate the pace, making this another contest that should provide plenty for spectators to watch.

Tadhg Keogh faces Eric Scott at 70kg.

Keogh has been finding his stride as he continues to add fights to his experience and has previously featured on our Prospect Watch.

Scott represents Assassin's Thai Boxing and brings the challenge of being a southpaw.

The two were previously scheduled to meet at Evolution last year, although that matchup ultimately did not take place. Their meeting on Saturday should therefore be an interesting one to follow.

Gary Miller vs Ben O'Regan

Moving into the A-class contests, Gary Miller vs Ben O'Regan is one of the more technically intriguing matchups on the card.

Miller has come through as a household name in the amateur ranks and is now continuing his progression at A-class level, even having fought in Thailand.

Standing opposite him is Ben O'Regan of Wai Tribe, the current 53.5kg Irish pro am champion, who comes into the contest with a 6-1 record.

O'Regan is an experienced fighter at this level, and with Miller continuing to develop every time we see him and with now experience fighting in Thailand,  this should provide a high-level test for both men.

Dean Graham vs Cormac Robinson is another fight with plenty of interest behind it.

Graham has continued to develop through his recent fights, showing an increasingly composed approach while making good use of his range.

Robinson, meanwhile, returned from a lengthy period away from competition with a second-round stoppage over AJ Welch.

Now the two meet at 66.5kg, with Graham looking to continue his progression and Robinson looking to build on his successful return.

Liam McDonnell vs Prince Owuh

At the top of the card is the WBC Muay Thai 72.5kg British Championship, with Liam McDonnell taking on Prince Owuh.

McDonnell represents Langka Muay Thai and comes into the fight after a run of strong performances. He has continued to beat the opponents placed in front of him while appearing to improve with each outing.

Opposite him is Prince Owuh of Two Technical Muay Thai, under head coach Paul Karpowicz, himself an accomplished fighter.

Owuh has already challenged for the title, coming up short against Finn Welch, and will now have another opportunity to claim the championship.

For McDonnell, this represents another significant test against an experienced opponent who has already competed at championship level. For Owuh, it is an opportunity to return to the title picture with another strong performance.

With both men bringing championship experience and plenty of ability into the ring, the 72.5kg WBC Muay Thai British Championship is a fitting headline bout for Deliverance.

A Card With Plenty to Watch

Deliverance offers a good mixture of developing fighters, experienced amateurs, Pro-Am and professional-level competition, with several match ups involving fighters who are beginning to establish themselves on the Irish scene.

There are plenty of storylines throughout the card, from the younger fighters continuing to build their records to experienced competitors stepping into increasingly difficult matchups.

Knott vs Murphy, Long vs Spratt, Arnold vs Nolan and Keogh vs Scott all offer interesting tests for fighters continuing to develop, while Miller vs O'Regan and Graham vs Robinson provide a step up in experience and competition.

At the top of the card, Liam McDonnell vs Prince Owuh gives Deliverance a championship main event between two fighters with plenty to prove.

Deliverance takes place Saturday, October 3, The Devenish Complex, Belfast.
