Friday Night Fights: Recap and results

Friday Night Fights: Another Strong Night for Irish Muay Thai

It was another fantastic evening of Muay Thai at the Sallynoggin Inn as Friday Night Fights, presented by Warriors Gym Dublin, brought fighters from across the Irish scene together for a busy night of competition.

The event created an exciting atmosphere throughout the evening and provided a platform for fighters across the amateur, junior and Pro-Am levels to test themselves and showcase their skills.

From technical contests that went the distance to several impressive stoppages, the card produced plenty of memorable performances.

Ossie Kilkenny vs Harley McKenna

One of the standout contests was Ossie Kilkenny vs Harley McKenna.

The bout went the distance, with Kilkenny taking the decision, but both young men showed plenty of skill throughout.

Kilkenny, in particular, looked mature in his performance. He remained composed, made good decisions throughout the contest and showed an ability to manage the fight against a skilled opponent.

It was a strong performance from two young fighters who both have plenty of room to develop as their careers progress.

Luke Smyth vs Daniel Sarwar

Another competitive contest saw Luke Smyth and Daniel Sarwar battle to a draw.

Both fighters showed plenty of promise and technical ability, producing another interesting matchup between two young talents.

With neither able to separate themselves on the judges' scorecards, the draw felt appropriate for a competitive contest.

Both are fighters worth keeping an eye on as their careers continue to develop.

Big Ron Stops Elijah Brennan

Big Ron produced one of the evening's early stoppages, defeating Elijah Brennan via TKO in the first round.

It was a strong performance from Big Ron, who established himself early and did not allow the contest to develop into a prolonged affair.

The first-round stoppage was one of several finishes throughout the card and demonstrated the variety of performances on offer across the evening.

Fight of the Night: Johnny Fitzsimons vs Nikita

For us, the standout fight of the evening was Johnny Fitzsimons of DCA vs Nikita of Valhalla.

The five-round Pro-Am contest was a tremendous showcase of two highly technical young fighters.

Both were sharp, composed and precise throughout, producing a fight that maintained a high level of quality from beginning to end. The technical exchanges, timing and willingness of both fighters to engage made this one of the most enjoyable contests of the evening.

Five rounds of Pro-Am Muay Thai gave both fighters the opportunity to demonstrate their ability under pressure, and both delivered.

It was a genuine showcase of the talent coming through the Irish Muay Thai scene.

Cuan Skerrett vs Kane Lynch

Another notable performance came from Cuan Skerrett, who stopped Kane Lynch via TKO in the third round.

Lynch did a good job early in the contest of keeping Skerrett at arm's length. He used his punches effectively and worked to maintain distance, preventing Skerrett from consistently closing the gap.

Coming into the third round, however, Skerrett began to increase the pace.

The turning point came when Skerrett connected with a spinning elbow, which began the sequence that would ultimately lead to the stoppage.

From there, Skerrett continued to close the distance, landing further punches, elbows and knees to the body. The sustained pressure eventually proved too much, with the referee bringing the contest to an end in the third.

It was an impressive finish and a strong demonstration of Skerrett's ability to increase the intensity when it mattered.

Other Standout Performances

There were several other performances throughout the evening that deserve recognition.

Shane Clare produced an impressive first-round TKO victory over Khan Cong, displaying tremendous punching timing and power. Clare found his opportunities early and made the most of them, bringing the contest to an early conclusion.

Paudi Kelleher also secured a stoppage, defeating Isaac Brown via TKO in the second round.

Kelleher continued to apply pressure throughout the contest before finding the finish in the second, adding another strong performance to an action-packed card.

Another notable performance came from Sean Olyani, who stopped Onome in the second round.

After a competitive contest, Olyani found the breakthrough in the final round and secured the stoppage.

Each of these performances added to an evening that featured a mixture of technical decision wins and decisive finishes.

A Strong Finish

The final fight of the evening saw Cal Noonan take on Jamie McGuinness, with Noonan securing the decision victory.

It was another competitive contest and a fitting way to close out the night, with both young fighters putting on a strong display of Muay Thai.

The fight brought the evening to a close after a card that had already featured a wide range of styles, experience levels and performances.

Another Night for Irish Muay Thai

Friday Night Fights once again provided a platform for fighters from across Ireland to test themselves and gain valuable experience in front of a live crowd.

Presented by Warriors Gym Dublin, the event showcased talent across junior, amateur and Pro-Am competition, with fighters from different gyms coming together to compete.
